Melaka and Penang are both joint winner of the UNESCO historic cities of the Straits of Melaka. Besides the historic heritage, both cities are well known as the food capitals of West Malaysia. (FYI, The food capital of East Malaysia is Kuching in Sarawak)
The food in Penang is more Chinese influenced whereas Melaka food is geared towards Malay taste. Personally, I’m a big fan of Melaka Nyonya food (aka Peranakan food) and I am always impressed with their clever use of spices (not the hot spicy type). It is easy on tongue yet exceptionally delicious!
TripAdvisor perhaps provides many “recommendations” but nothing beats local friends’ recommendation which is tested and verified!
Here is the list on google map and remember to follow it for future reference.
